Babcock FIRED!?

Babcock was fired two days ago. He was hired in 2015 and had signed a eight year, $50 million contract. He was hired to win the Leafs their first cup since 1967. Babcock has been a head coach in the NHL since 2002. In that time he’s only won one Stanley cup. But also in that time he coached the 2010 and 2014 mens Canadian hockey team at the olympics, where he won gold at both. Babcock took the broken and struggling leafs, and turned them into a playoff team. They made the playoffs three years in a row under Babcock, with two of those seasons collecting over 100 points.

Given all of that on his resume, at the start of the 2019-20 season, the leafs went on a 6 game losing streak. After that, Babcock was fired. Babcock was replaced by the leafs AHL affiliate head coach. Babcock has an amazing resume and is now replaced by a guy who has just over 7 years of coaching experience which none of them are in the NHL. I keep hearing that he was hired to win them the cup. I get that but he’s not a magician, he did well with turning the team around and he still had 3 years left in his contract to get them that cup. I think Toronto jumped the gun on this one and its going to turn around and bite them in the butt.
